First tower crane installed on site
The first of two tower cranes has been successfully installed at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital, an important milestone for main works construction on the $940 million redevelopment. Standing at an impressive 100 metres tall, the crane will be pivotal in the construction of the hospital’s new 15-storey tower, which has been designed to enhance and expand medical services for the local community. The cranes’ first major task will be to assist in assembling the new tower’s structure. Kristina Zarkos, Redevelopment Manager, SLHD Project Lead for RPA, said that the arrival of the crane shows exciting progress. "With the first crane now in place, the excitement is building,” Ms Zarkos said. “This year we’ll begin to see the 15-storey structure rise from the ground. It’s rewarding to see all the planning, consultation and design come together in a building that will make a real difference for our community." As construction continues to ramp up at RPA, patients, visitors and staff will experience some noise and vibration from the works across the campus. We will work to minimise these impacts and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we progress this important hospital redevelopment.
